Our God is the God of ‘breakthrough.’ He’s the God of second chances; the God of new beginnings. Because of who He is ‘breakthrough’ is always just a breath away.

Breakthrough: an offensive military assault that penetrates and carries beyond a defensive line; an act or instance of moving through or beyond an obstacle, a breakthrough in the talks between the region's leaders a breakthrough agreement; a sudden advance especially in knowledge.

There are times that our souls just need to grow to receive a promise. Often He brings us through a trial that seems like the exact opposite of the promise. And as we submit to His hand, our heart is expanded miraculously to receive the promise. That’s His way.

James wrote, “Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.”

We receive the word as a seed “implanted” in our hearts. We need to feed and water it, pluck the weeds that would stunt it’s growth and guard the new shoot until it matures and brings forth fruit (the promise of the word that was implanted). God does His part and we participate with Him in the fulfillment. He never will force anything on us, even His promises. He wants us to participate with Him.

Hebrews 6:11-12
11. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,
12. so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Three reminders in these two verses. First, we need to be diligent so that we will receive the promise. Second, we ‘inherit’ the promises because we are part of the Family of God! And finally, we must exercise faith and patience to ‘inherit’ the promises—we must participate with Him.

Bless you and be diligent to inherit His promises today!
